Throughout the years I have witnessed many personality’s of people. From a child we are taught to “treat others as you would like to be treated“. Sadly, in our world, many people do not follow that adage`. I wonder what makes persons do such things. Maybe it is a temptation to delve into the ‘grass is greener on the other side” syndrome. Sometimes, people simply just go through life with “what’s in it for me?” You should be asking, ”what can I bring?”
Over the years I have met “Christians” who displayed these attributes. It is not a hard life to follow, but yet somehow it is for them. I still do not understand what is complicated about following God’s rules. Take the bible out of context and it is simply “be nice to everyone”. People view murder, theiving, adultery, and rape as sins. What about lies, jealously, manipulation, conspiracy, and underhandedness? Are they sins? If not, what are they? People pratice every day these latter mentioned things as if they were a part of life. It is life for them.
That is not to say that everyone who is a Christian, is lying (they honestly believe they are good)… but a person’s true colours do come out eventually. Sad as it is, I have seen many people turn due to what they believe is right. There are many different religions and beliefs, therefore many versions of what is right and wrong.
I have a friend who was raised a Jehovah Witness, and yet, he is displaying a Christian in every sense of the word. I have met only one “man of the Lord”, Joel Osteen, and he is right on in his preaching. He teaches the word of God. A true Christian gives freely, does not buy into power plays, remains calm when another is angered, does not judge, etcetera. I really like what he stands for. He restores humanity in this world. It is possible to change, but the individual has to be willing for it to transpire.
So, what is a sin? My belief is simple. If you do harm to another whether it is physical, mental, or emotional; you have sinned! Many of us have experienced events in our lives that depict sin. Or, those who sinned seem to get away with murder, while us (non-sinners) have sorrow. For example, if you have a business and your employees quit due to a co-worker being scolded. Next thing you know a business pops up with the your former employees to compete with you! It looks like they are winning. In fact it is just the opposite, because they are on the wrong road. Two roads are in life. One is smooth at the beginning and rough at the end. The second is rough at the start and smooth at the end. So, you see, sin is easily defined. Only, if the person chooses to accept and change them self from the inside.
Christians are also ignorant in reference to boundaries. What I like are people who use guilt to show their displeasure when a weaker individual sets boundaries. Simply say to the guilt ridden person, “I am sorry you feel that way”…and stand firm and hold your ground. Guess what? Sinning! So you see sin is displayed in various forms.
